Goller in Conflict: Benambo Patron Principles Running Interference

3312 February 20

The United Goller Liberals (UGL) have become increasingly aggressive to Benambans in Goller. Tensions seemed to start last fall, with the “Ban Benambans from Ban Enterprise” protest campaign in September. But in January of 3312, Benambo’s embassy in Goller was attacked by operatives associated with the UGL, despite official claims from the UGL denying responsibility.

On Febuary 18, after mounting tensions and repeated accusations of sabotage, the UGL declared the Benambo Patron Principles the enemy and began a full-on campaign against Patron Principles owned and aligned stations. Benambo has responded by dispatching Benamban Security Response ships to suppress the outbreak of conflict in shipping lanes and less well defended installations. Governer Welch is confindent in the Benamban fleet and has already prepared a conditional surrender proposition for the UGL for the estimated 35 billion credits in damages, possibly including the transfer of a the mining installation White Crater Mining Group. Meanwhile, The UGL are seeking to claim Benambo’s Grushin Laboratory and have thus far declined any parlay with Benamban officials.

The conflict seems to be evenly matched; as of reporting, there are heavy military losses on both sides.

“It’s a mess. You see the lasers and know it’s a OGFP vessel. They really want Grushin Lab; [and it’s because] we do some of our best metallurgic research there.”

- Benamban Fleet-Lieutenant Herbert Douglas on Sunday.

Grushin Laboratory Science Lead Dr. Kliemer has more to say about the importance of Grushin Laboratory.

“I’m with the science team. Contributions from Grushin Lab were a large part of the high-entropy alloy breakthroughs used in the corrosion resistance of modern ship plating. The team here… is also researching new catalyst matrices that could terraform an Ammonia-world in as little as 200 years. Things would be going [more smoothly] if we did not have lockdown every single day at this laboratory!”

Pilots wishing to support the cause of Benambo are asked to check in with the Benamban Embassy at Ban Enterprise, in Goller.
